Grainy/nutty
aroma with spice and grassy notes; big flavors, caramel and roasted
nuts, good
length on the palate; little rough in the
finish.

Amber-copper
with a golden cast. Moderately light-bodied. Reminiscent of walnut,
dried
citrus, dried herbs, tea. Racy feel on the palate with a elegant
balance of
dried fruit, spice and dusty aromatics. Pretty, delicate
finish.

Ezra Brook's Blended Bourbon 90°
Vanilla
and oak resting in a field of violets.
Smooth and dry. The tannins from the wood start with a dry mouth feel
when all of the sudden a sweet caramel kicks in with a hint of
allspice. A bit of bite.

Fighting Cock Straight Bourbon 6 Year 103°.
The bad
boy of bourbon. Corn silk and fresh
mowed hay. A little vanilla with oak in the background. Bit of a
kick to it followed with some
strong corn flavor with a little vanilla and pepper
spice.
13. Jim
Beam White Label 4 year 80°
Nice,
balanced amber, more red than orange. The nose is slightly
perfumey. The mouth feel, combined with the strong
corn taste, recalls Karo syrup, another product that exploits the
sweetness of
corn.

Knob Creek Kentucky Straight Bourbon 9 Year 100°
Medium-tawny
amber color; fruity aroma with spice, vanilla and nutmeg notes; soft
entry,
creamy caramel, slight sweetness.

Maker's Mark Bourbon 90°
Candy,
caramel, toffee, even pancake syrup; the smoothness of milk chocolate
with some
of the bitterness of dark chocolate.
This Bourbon's finesse and elegance shines through in its light reddish

Juniper
and Honeysuckle surface perfume that overrides deeper scents of cedary
oak and
sweet grain mash. Ginger, brown sugar
and vanilla extract. Aftertaste is
long, focused, piney, woody and moderately
sweet.

Charter Proprietor's Reserve 13 Year 90°
The
aromas begin with a bone-dry pepperiness, followed swiftly by a rich,
sweet
buttery note. The body is huge and creamy, and the palate brings old
leather
into play with an abundance of fruits, cloves and sweet vanilla. The
finish is

18. Old
Crow Kentucky Straight Bourbon 80°
Simple
nose with vanilla, caramelized sugar, and honey scents with strong
alcohol
notes. Medium body with the flavors reflecting the nose although it
adds a
slight touch of tobacco and citrus. Hot, short
finish.
19. Old
Forester 4 Year 86°
Light
amber, slightly dusky. A little hot, but not acrid. A toffee
quality, with a hint of soot in its dry finish. The
finish is evanescent as the whiskey seems to magically evaporate off
the
tongue.
20. Old
Grandad Kentucky Straight 86°
Classic
bourbon; the nose is full-throttle grain, sharply sweet-sour and
woody with dashes of spice and caramel. Begins rather
meekly, then bursts forward with biscuity, vanilla, and white
chocolate
tastes.
21. Old
Rip Van Winkle 10 Year 90°
This
fine whiskey has as pleasant a taste as any whiskey around. The 10 full
years
of aging combine nicely with its 90-proof. A hint of caramel flavor is
enjoyed
when one tastes this fine hand-crafted bourbon.

Weller Antique 7 Year 107°
A
medium amber bourbon, bearing a sweetish note with some unusual floral
notes
and a string dash of vanilla. The body is big and the palate is very
well
balanced, flirting between sweet honeyed fruit notes, a strong vanilla
undertone and some sharp spicy tones; the finish is long and
spicy.

Whiskey River 6 year 86°
Straight
ahead with sweet, with honey, candy, and caramel notes and hints of
walnut,
maple and orange peel. Real old-time
Bourbon.

Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve 15 Year 107°
The
nose is intensely fruited but also bears a tantalizing citrus zest
note. The
body is huge and almost chewable, and the palate is tremendously
buttery with some
sherry notes, a dash of dried fruits and some rich, creamy vanilla. The

Very
dark color for wheated bourbon. Nose is loaded with honey, floral, caramel,
vanilla, orange peel and spice notes with a touch of pine. Full

honey, smoke, maple vanilla and touches of citrus and
herbs.

Hints
of plums, candy, and papaya, and the medium body bears a simple palate
with a
touch of fruit, tobacco, and a pleasant minty backdrop.

Winkle Special Reserve 12 Year 90.4°
A very
pleasant drink of whiskey. This fine
whiskey can compete with any excellent cognac as an after dinner drink.

overall impression is rich and deep. Well

Aromas
of lanolin, almond oil, and creamed corn.
The finish is long, sweet, oaky, and intensely grainy. A
high-spirited, lusciously toasty, and

Replacing
the rye grain in the recipe with wheat provides for an exceptionally
smooth
taste. An intensely complex, fruity
